Roanoke financial group gets CEO

Member One Federal Credit Union picked a man who worked for a credit union in Florida.

Frank Carter

Frank Carter's start date was not announced.

On the final day of Dick Williams' 36-year tenure as CEO of Member One Federal Credit Union, the Roanoke-based financial institution named his successor.

Frank Carter will take over as Member One's president and chief executive officer, the company announced Thursday.

Carter is the former senior vice president of Grow Financial Federal Credit Union, a $1.9 billion Tampa, Fla.-based institution with 18 branches and 182,000 members that originally served MacDill Air Force Base.

During his time at Grow Financial, Carter also oversaw the credit union's marketing efforts during a time it rebranded from MacDill Federal Credit Union.

Wilson Potts, chairman of the Member One board, was not available for comment.

No one at the company's headquarters could say when Carter would begin.

"We are excited to have Frank leading our organization," Potts said in a news release announcing Carter.

"He has a proven track record of performance that matches the aggressive goals we have set for the credit union," he added in the news release.

Also in the release, Potts said growth will continue to be a priority for the company.

He pointed to Carter's marketing and public relations experience as keys to future success.

Member One has assets of nearly $350 million, 12 branches and more than 52,000 members.

The 67-year-old company originally served employees at Norfolk and Western Railway.
