Paul Burke of Rainelle, W.V., has been raising, flying and releasing white homing pigeons at funerals and weddings for the past two years.

When the weather is clear, Burke trains his birds by releasing them a few miles at time away from his rural Botetourt County bird facility.

Burke has had his doves released at events as far away as Stuart, Va., but he routinely releases them at funerals in Roanoke.

He runs White Flights II with his brother who also lives in West Virginia.
